Updating the portfolio

It's about time I finally add something to the projects section. I'll be having to look at Unis soon, so adding to a portfolio will be useful anyway. We've got modified action figures, model kits, and creature sculptures. More will be on its way!

The next chapter of Kailus' war is up. Turns out writing longer pieces of text can be harder than it would seem.

Kailus' War

Well I have decided to try and write an extended piece, hopefully going into novella territory. I shall be posting each chapter as I write it, with the idea that posting will encourage me to write, and writing will encourage me to post.
Without spoiling what little I've written so far, the story is a sci-fi set thousands of years in the future, with some Asimovian influences. The first two (rather short) chapters are ready to read here -->

Discovering Voyager 1

Seventy-three thousand years into the future mankind has managed to spread to the far reaches of the cosmos with the strong foundations of technology, science and a balanced society in the Galactic Unity. Planets of all kinds are now habited by man, in an age where the history of the human race is long forgotten. On the planet of Uran, scientist Aled seeks to find the home world of the human race. His search is brought to a strange object found drifting through space, baring the faded logo of NASA.

Warhammer Skeleton King

Warhammer Skeleton King

I am not entirely sure what the name of this guy is so I have just put it in the most generic terms. This was a miniature from the tabletop war game Warhammer--a game I've never been interested in playing but have fallen in love with the lore and art behind it and its sci fi counterpart, and it is when looking at such things that I saw this model and just had to get it and paint it. I have made a great focus on red and green in this model, including the rust on his chain-mail and sword achieved with pigment powders, and the green patina of his chest plate created by a turquoise wash over a brass base (detail in the photos below). Now looking back at it with these close up pics I do start to see signs of my sloppy-handedness, but overall it is one of my favorite yet.
